About

The waterfront city of Edmonds offers its residents not only a beautiful place to live with sweeping views of the Puget Sound and Olympics but also a rich arts culture and vibrant locally owned boutiques, restaurants, and community events!

Designated as Washington state’s first creative district, numerous art installations and murals add charm throughout the downtown area. The visual and performing arts community thrives with its own theatre, art galleries, and museum. Annual events such as Edmonds Art Festival, Edmonds Jazz Connection, and Write on the Sound give an outlet to creative residents and invite like-minds to the area.

The historical society sponsors the weekly Saturday Farmer's Market, which runs from May to October featuring tons of local produce, food, and art vendors.

As a waterfront city, it also has its own marina. The Port of Edmonds is one of the largest in the Puget Sound region with over 850 slips. The shores are also home to the Edmonds-Kingston ferry terminal, perfect for a quick getaway, a public fishing pier, and the marine walkway. Locals recommend extending your walk along Sunset Ave for a real treat and great ferry views! Make sure to stop by the newly opened Edmonds Waterfront Center too.

Edmonds also features tons of neighborhood parks! Not only for hiking and play but also for bird enthusiasts and scuba divers. The 22-acre saltwater marsh is one of the few estuaries of its kind in the area. The underwater park features a submerged dock, vessels, and a man-made reef!

The Edmonds School district boasts one of the most top-rated schools in the state, Edmonds-Woodway High School, which hosts the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Interesting Notes

  • Anecdote: A popular legend, Edmonds is the oldest incorporated city in Snohomish County, the minimum population in 1890 to incorporate was 300 residents. It's rumored being just shy of that, founder, George Brackett added the names of his two oxen to the census.
  • Iconic Landmark: Main Street’s roundabout fountain at 5th and Main.
  • Slogan: "It's an Edmonds kind of day.”
