Designated as Washington State’s first creative district, Edmonds boasts numerous art installations and murals that add charm to the downtown area. Annual events like the Edmonds Arts Festival, Edmonds Jazz Connection, and Write on the Sound provide creative outlets for residents and attract like-minded visitors.

The historical society sponsors a weekly Saturday Farmers Market from May to October, featuring an array of local produce, food, and art vendors.

As a waterfront city, Edmonds is home to a bustling marina. The Port of Edmonds, one of the largest in the Puget Sound region, offers over 850 slips. The shoreline also features the Edmonds-Kingston ferry terminal, a public fishing pier, and a marine walkway. Locals recommend extending your walk along Sunset Avenue for breathtaking ferry views and a stop at the newly opened Edmonds Waterfront Center.

Edmonds is also rich in neighborhood parks, perfect for hiking, playing, birdwatching, and scuba diving. The 22-acre saltwater marsh is one of the few estuaries of its kind in the region. The underwater park includes a submerged dock, vessels, and a man-made reef.

The Edmonds School District is renowned for its excellence, with Edmonds-Woodway High School being one of the top-rated schools in the state and offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

  • Anecdote: Edmonds, the oldest incorporated city in Snohomish County, needed a minimum population of 300 residents in 1890 to incorporate. Legend has it that founder George Brackett added the names of his two oxen to meet this requirement.
  • Iconic Landmark: The Main Street roundabout fountain at 5th and Main is a well-known local landmark.
